Sunny Sponder is a writer-illustrator by day, gamer by night, and hypochondriac 24/7. A Cannes Young Lion-award winning creative director turned comics artist, he has received critical acclaim for his dance moves by his mom.
He found his artistic voice watching Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and the manic enthusiasm of tween actors in Go-Gurt commercials. Though he colors like an episode of Rugrats or Adventure Time, he writes stories that live in the darker corner of fantasy, exploring characters who suffer from chronic anxiety, psychological puppeteering, and a conflicted sense of belonging—but always with a cereal spoonful of whimsy to help readers escape their everyday to a place with just enough magic. When he’s not doodling at home in Downtown Brooklyn, New York, you can catch him in a train or plane pretending to write important thoughts in his red pocket Moleskine, usually en route to another comic con where he gives talks on identity design for independent artists and sells tchotchkes you can pin on your jean jacket.
